Embers,
I wonder if your first photo will also be your last, as mine appears to be ?
I too successfully posted some photos on the first emergence of the " new" forum only to be told (today) the file is too large ( same size as before)????

@Dingo40 ,
I don't know what size file is allowed or works. The one I posted is 1600 px by 1200 px. I can resize to smaller, if needed. Let's see if my mini metal accordion will attach to this post.

(click...click...click). Yeah, cool-looking accordion! :*)

The exact same file attached okay again. No problem. Is what you tried to post today the same file or a different one? If different, get the first one and do this same test. Depending on result, you'll at least have, from your end, a comparison made. Best. ~Bob

Maximum size of photo is set to 1600 x 1600, with a maximum file size of 2mb.

Knobby,
Here's the mystery: all photos were 14 mb each.
The first ones went through, no problem ( to my amazement and delight).
Today's didn't.
Go figure ?

Possibly because I hadn't finished setting up the attachment permissions when you posted your picture, but the PHP upload limit of the server is 2Mb so I can't see how you could upload a 14Mb file.
But if it's correct that your pictures are 14Mb each then that's a ridiculous size for a 1600 x 1200 picture. You really need to look at the camera settings on your phone try setting it to jpg at a lower resolution.

The picture you posted here: https://www.accordionists.info/threads/attaching-images.6698/ is 1600 x 1200 and only 297Kb!

Thanks Knobby!?
My problem is my IT knowledge is just enough to get me into trouble ?
I'm not sure what I did that was different about the two postings, other than the outcome.
More input required!
Back to the drawing board ?
But thanks anyway ??

This is the picture of my accordion playing stool I wanted to send. I've just downsized it on a free online site. I'll try to attach it here.
Hey, it worked!?

One thing though: I didn't need to do any of this on the previous occasion, and it still went through ??

I notice if I tap on such an attachment as this, it enlarges only a fraction of it. Is that right??

My original photo was inserted using the forum's button "Full image." I seldom use the "Thumbnail" option.
In this thread, the thumbnail just made my "mini" too mini. :*)

No, it enlarges the whole picture. Likely that because the picture is so big it cannot be displayed on your phones screen so it only shows part of the image. Maybe you need to scroll around to see it all.

However it is still a big file - it's now 1200 x 900 and 930kb

Here it is again after being processed for the Internet - now 293Kb and the same 1200 x 900:

Try using https://resizeimage.net/ and under "7." select "Normal compression" (y)
