I believe ‘Whistlin’ Rufus’ is a North American tune. It has been popular in Scotland for a long as I can remember. It’s jaunty structure and uplift suits some dances well and it is particularly suited to the ‘Mayfair Quickstep’,  a modern sequence dance.

A lot of Felix Burns's tunes are so useful including 'Shufflin' Sam, Black Maria etc. They're timeless.
