You'd certainly be able to play a version of Funiculi Funicula - you might have to do a bit of simplification as you won't have minor chords on a 12 bass.
On Italian music in general you should be able to play anything that can be played on an organetto. (Loads of vids on Youtube.)
If you look online for "three chord" or "three chord trick" songs you'll find literally thousands that can be played on a twelve bass accordion, though it'll mostly be offered for guitar or ukulele. You'd be able to play a normal three chord song in three different keys on a twelve bass - you might want to change the key to make it easier to sing.
All this is about the limitations of 12 basses - you can play in any key you like on the right hand end of a 12 bass piano accordion, and it could sound great if you can play with a guitar player who'll look after the chords.
There's a huge amount of music that can be played on a 12 bass accordion, but if I was doing that I'd look to music being played on diatonic instruments such as melodeon, organetto or "diatonic button accordion" rather than what's being done on larger accordions. All about "transcending limitations!"
Good luck
Tom
