Hi,
I'm Eddy from Belgium and new here.
My English isn't the best, so I hope you understand me or get a smile on your face

Last week I have bought a very old Frans Meulemans, Anvers, importe de Suisse accordion.
Some research learned that it has to be a 1930? Borsini.
What's the connection between Mr Meulemans and Borsini?

Most of it seems to work.
Some tongues were loose, that was easily to fix with a temperature regulated soldering station.
Some buttons are missing and one complete tongue is lost :(

Before I start replacing things I like to fix the major problem.
At the right hand keyboard, one button is partially broken of and the valve doesn't close.
I'm afraid a spring is out of position or broken.
But I don't know how to reach that part.
At the under side I have took out some screws, no result.
At the top side the decoration is fixed with lots of small screws.
Do I have to take them out? At the side I see 3 small knobs that are the end of a rod I think.

Do you have any suggestions to open the keyboard?

Thanks for all replys.

I'm trying to upload some pictures but I don't succeed :(

Tom,
thanks for the link.
Yes I had found it and it whas very helpfull.
I allso have looked a lot of youtube about repair.
Maybe better that I make a list with the correct English names  ;)

Hi Eddy Welcome to the forum. Firstly let me say I can't help with the access to the springs question - I know little about models from this era, and nothing about this particular model. Pictures tho' I can assist with. They probably won't load 'cos they're too big and you need to make them smaller in a picture editor or with the settings on your camera or phone. Alternatively you can upload them to a hosting site like photobucket and post the link here.
I hope someone comes along with knowledge of these models to help you.
Good luck!
Ed

Thanks,
internet explorer whas the problem.
Chrome gives an error. Max pix is 2048x2048.

Wow, that is a beautiful little gem you have, there! I love the olive green celluloid.
It looks like a lot of work. But when you're done it will be a very big reward, and a huge accomplishment! :D

There's a lot of rust on the grille, though... Is there a lot of rust on the reeds? :|

Hi there,

thanks a lot. I love it to.
The grille is made of cupper or bronze, I dont know.
Its dirty and needs some cleaning, but its not rusty.
The reeds look pretty good. Some leathers have to be replaced.

It seems that Borsini has made this model for lots of other companies that have put there own name on
Till now I have found 1 Antwerp and 2 Brussel brands.

Hi Eddy,

nice instrument! I have several accordeons from the 1930's and though I have found two different key spring systems they are all accessed by removing the pannel at the back of the keyboard. Looking at the pictures from ebay suggests that your back panel might not be removable in the same way.

I think some more good detailed pictures might help someone here to see a way into the spring area.

Hopefully you have found a solution to this problem by now so I wish you good luck with the restoration.

Geoff.
