Well, since I "volunteered" to do the farmers markets this fall, and I didn't make the switch to playing jazz, it looks like the old repertoire this year will be an eclectic mix of Italian, old time, and "other." At least I can do "intro, tune, improvised, tune, outro" format. I've got about an hour and a half of music here which will stretch to two with the friendly chats of "my grandfather used to play accordion" (gotta love 'em!). I can repeat if I have to. Wish me luck!

Amore Mio Non Piangere
Apples Peaches Pumpkin Pie
Ach Du Lieber Augustin/Du Du Liegst Mir Im Herzen
Asa Branca
Aura Lee
Beautiful Dreamer
Beer Barrel Polka
Camptown Races
Carnevale di Venezia
Down in the Valley/On Top of Old Smokey
Finiculi Finicula
Good Night Irene
Happy Birthday(If needed)
Jambalaya/Saints
Kesh Jig
Moon River
Muss I Denn (Wooden Heart)
Piemontesina Bella
Red River Valley
Rosabella di Molise
Serenata Aviglianese/Connie's Waltz
Summertime
Tarantella
Tavern in the Town
Tennessee Waltz
That's Amore
You Are My Sunshine

Best of luck! There's only two songs on there that I immediately recognise, but I'll take it as a learning opportunity and pick a couple off to learn

Thanks Jerry! I‘ok see what I can do!

Going to be challenging getting all this in memory in one week, since I like to play using the sheet music only as a guide.

Solid repertoire, can’t go wrong! For fun and to wake up the audience as needed I’d add an accordion transcription of a speed metal tune, to be played loud and fast, violent bellows shake and all.

Omg it was crazy!!!! I played 3 hours today since my friend called in sick, hope he doesn’t have covid….. Anyway, the interest was huge, I hardly had time to play. Two people wanted to buy accordions, 2 asked about lessons, one wanted repair of growling bass reeds (what causes them, and how do you fix it, anyone know? I’m sure you do!), and one asked if I would play a private Oktoberfest party. (I will.). Well now, based on that other discussion today, I’m doubling the price of all my used accordions (that I can part with). No wonder I sold 4 so fast this summer, I am obviously out of the loop. Never seen anything like it, and I doubt it was because I played so good! 🤣🤣🤣

All the best. That’s a really nice repertoire of timeless songs, most of which people know and love. I’m sure that everyone will love it. I hope that some or all of it gets recorded and posted!

Thanks! I noticed people photographing and recording but none that I know. Hopefully they didn’t get the mistakes!

You can do it! If you see one you like, pm me and I’ll send the sheet music as I’ve made arrangements of most of them.

Thanks guys and gals! It’s a big accomplishment for me just to do this and I still have a long road to hoe. There were definitely parts that were less than stellar, which I am sure some people noticed, and a few tunes in there that I skipped over. But dam it I’m gonna do this thing just to prove my musical hero Vassar Clements correct when he said,

“Twenty one years of blood, sweat and tears, and you’re an overnight success!”

As the great tune archivist and soul man of the uillean pipes Seamus Ennis put it, "Seven years of study, seven years of practice, and seven years of listening," should start to scratch the surface.

Awesome outing, just what the world needs more of.

Wow, for this non-professional amateur hobbyist who does not sight read, retaining 2 hours worth of music twice for a 4 hour gig is really hard. I don’t think I will make it by Tuesday, but my goal now is by the end of the season. Fortuitously the music seems to go from generally easier to generally harder alphabetically. Go figure. Some tunes already in “muscle memory” will be played many times through.

I'm real interested to see a video
Not just of your playing but also a bit of the farmers market environment..
Do you amplify and mini stage or is it a stroller gig
Be sweet to see a bit of your home culture..
Appreciated Ambassador Tom 💪👊

I loved reading the titles in your repertoire! I know many of the songs (this accordion beginner can’t play them yet, some on the piano) but your choice of those I know inspires me to look up some i don’t recognize and perhaps add them to my growing hope list, as in I hope I can play them some day!

Hey, when you are ready maybe someone who lives near you could show up with a video camera and do a mini documentary, the setting, some music, some reaction.
