After I had made a bid for on ebay for a 26/48 Galotta I decided to check on the forum for good or bad reviews, I was mortified to find that it was considered to be one of the worst accordions made in some communist country and not a patch on hohner or even weltmeister.
The only ray of hope was Squeezebox of Delights who said it was quite powerful for its size and he liked the rumbly bass.
I fretted that the wife would give me another hard time over this purchase.
Imagine my delight to find that it had wooden reed blocks with perfect valves, every key and button played and the only snag was an easily remedied stuck air button.
£140 well spent.

One of the finest players of Irish dance tunes from the "Sliabh Luachra" region plays a Galotta PA. Sliabh Luachra regional tunes are dance-based and heavy on polkas, slides, and slip jigs--melodically simple but full of movement and lift. Music of huge fun and joy. Sliabh Luachra accordion tends to be bisonoric/diatonic button boxes played in keys that complement a "back-and-forth" air movement that gives excitement and lift to the polkas and other dance forms. But Michael Sheehy gets this sound and feel on a Galotta PA. Here is his delightful CD (I have no connection, just a fan):

Here he is going to town:

There is an MM Galotta with 30 treble I've been watching for for ages. Definitely a wish-list item.
