Mr Mark
Squeezebaggeroni...
I have a small, much older accordion I'm looking at and am just wondering a couple of things.
It is a Pietro 24 bass, I'm guessing around 100 years old. It is in fairly good condition considering, and the reeds actually are not steel but the plates seem to be (you could bonk someone one the head pretty good with these reed blocks).
My first question is; will these be bronze or brass reeds? They appear brass in colour...
Second - there are instances of significant peeling of the cover material. It looks like celluloid but am also not sure, it is rather thin and seems to have a paper backing - or perhaps that is just a layer of failed glue. My thought is to cover the entire back surface instead of repair it - much like the older Hohners had a thin back pad sort of material - so has anyone done a cover over and what did you use? Any thoughts on this are also appreciated.
Thanks for looking!
