Coming end may / early june I will be joining the first ACA course in Castelfidardo. Looking much forward to it! I have a couple of days before and after. Any tips for visiting, food, things i should definitely do?

Try to make appointments to visit some of the factories (Bugari/Zero-Sette, Pigini, Beltuna... and maybe smaller workshops). Visit the accordion museum. the park (with a war memorial statue)... but other than this there isn't much to do but you can visit some villages and towns in the area (which I haven't done).
After the course you should make a good list of tools and materials you need and get them from Carini. (During the course there is normally a brief visit to Carini, but you cannot do much there until you have a better idea what you will need. (You may want to buy some scrap pieces of celluloid for instance, to perform celluloid repair, and you may want to visit a hardware store to buy a few canisters of (1L) acetone (unless you are flying because the acetone would be banned).
The timing is a bit unfortunate because May 29 - June 1 is the World Music Festival in Innsbruck (a large competition for accordion ensembles and orchestras) and ,considering where you are from, Innsbruck is a good place to stop on the way from Groningen to Castelfidardo (assuming you are driving). I'm a bit surprised about the timing of the course, because I was expecting Elke to be in Innsbruck, but with the dates of the course that won't be possible. The dates are also very unfortunate because May 30 is Ascention Dday and June 2 is la Festa della Repubblica and the courses normally do not coincide with holidays (unless Elke forgets about a holiday, like the anniversario della liberazione (April 25) or the Day of the Republic, June 2...). If you stay after the course, don't expect many stores, museums, restaurants... to be open on June 2.
Thanks Debra. Carini is the shop i will certainly visit. Also my b&b appears to be right opposite to Giustozzi, looks intriguingly small, hope to take a look there.
So I will have to see how it goes with Ascension day and Festa della Republicca. Thanks for the heads up. If the last one is anything like in France, all shops will be closed. Hopefully some fun activities as well ....
Travelling by car, hope to go inland and see something of the region of Marche.
Got myself a nice simple accordion to work on ... Is going to be fun!
Oh and I will take my Elettra accordion... See if I can find any traces of history of that brand. They were in business from late forties to early sixties I believe .
These Sound like good plans. Depending on what you carry (especially back home) I have been advised to travel via Austria and not through Switzerland, because through Austria you stay within the EU and Schengen area. I have been told that you can have issues at the Swiss border when carrying a lot of valuable items (like accordions) or dangerous goods (like acetone). Until now I have always gone through Switzerland and the Gotthard tunnel but some friends with an accordion store always go through Austria (often with a car filled with brand new accordions).
The dates and holidays mostly imply that if you just do Tier1 (I would advise to do Tier1 and 2 at once) you cannot expect to buy stuff at Carini on June 1 (Sunday) or June 2 (Festa della Repubblica) you're out of luck. So the earliest opportunity to buy stuff after the course is finished will be June 3.
A B&B just opposite of Giustozzi appears to be a long walk from the center...
When I was in Castelfidardo the first B&B I had was about the same distance... (I got that B&B as a replacement for the one I really booked which was closed due to water damage after a storm. It was run by a very friendly older lady, and I was the only guest at the time.)
I later stayed in Hotel Parco, which is what I would probably do again.
One time I stayed in "Il Covo dei Piccioni" ("de duiventil") which is simple but sufficient and virtually next-door to Victoria, and it includes a parking permit for the small Piazza nearby. And when you're there don't forget to go down all the way on Via Giuseppe Mazzini to the ice-cream parlor opposite the supermarket. Such delicious ice-cream you cannot get anywhere in the Netherlands (not even in the ice-cream shop owned by my Italian neighbors).
