I understand the notes but I’m not sure what the small “c” signifies in this accordion notation. There’s no e flat so I know it’s not minor.

I think it's just a C chord, innit? G fundamental Oom followed by Cmaj pah pah.

We, accordion players, are privileged in that we don't need to learn to read dots for the chords.

German notation: uppercase letters for bass notes (counterbass notes will typically be underlined), lowercase letters for chords. A letter without anything following is major, with an "m" appended it is minor, with a "7" it is seventh, and typically with an appended "v" (as in "vermindert") it is diminished.

There is a good chance that B and b are written as H and h, and B♭ and b♭ as B and b, respectively.

We do have to learn to read chords in bass clef if:

1. We’re playing free bass.

2. We’re using sheet nusic published in countries that spell out the chords even if the target is Stradella bass

3. We need to figure out what chord symbols mean in countries where they provide the courtesy of both chord symbols and spelled-out chords
4. We want to play piano music scores that follow the bass-chord paradigm very closely (try Scott Joplin's "The Entertainer")

5. We get tired of the musical rat race, switch to a melodeon with 8 bass buttons and have great fun enjoying ourselves with simple I-IV-V bass ;).

I don’t know, 8 is a lot of bass buttons. I think a du botte with 2 and the old I-V is the way to go. I-V is pretty technical though, kind of rat racish. I’m going with the old “in and out.”
