When I'm travelling with my accordjun, I have it in the back of my SUV.

There's so much room in there it could roll Back-Forth, To & Fro.

I use a strap with a lead clip to strap the gig bag to the head rest post to stop the fore & aft. I loop the rear seat belt round it to resist the side-to-side.

It works well enough...

So? It's a bit of a pain.. the trussing it up... releasing it.. trussing it up.. releasing it...

Cargo net would I'd guess be just as bad and/or too stretchy.. and don't say get a car with a smaller boot.. :)

Any better ideas? Got your own solution? Have you seen an eloquent solution/designed for the job of restraining an accordion or similar?

If you are 1-2 people, place the accordion on the floor behind the passenger seat. Use the front and back seats to squeeze the case between them. Still use the strapping but this time, wrap it around the base of the seat and the accordion.

You could go off-roading without danger... lol Makes for a nice tight and secure option. :)

Here are a couple of solutions:
1.Get rid of your suv and buy something smaller so there is not enough room to slip and slide :)
2. Buy a second accordion with case and wedge them in.
3. Hire a roady to manage your instruments.

These are all expensive solutions so the one I use is put it on the back seat and use the seat - belt to strap it tight.

Thanks Glenn. :)

Thanks Jerry, maybe I should have said Ive done the behind the front passenger seat squeezed.. and even though its a 5 door I prefer the boot to that. The boot is at a nice height, is accessible even when cars are parked either side which makes it awkward if your using the behind the seats stuff cos you need the door wide open for access/extraction.
Id like to keep the car... on rear seats is awkward to get firm* ..so ideally use the boot... but Id like to know if there is a better way to secure it.

*I can hear you play ground humour/double entendre ers sniggering...

My own solution - have a box with jump leads, spare bulbs, foot pump, tow rope, tools etc in the boot plus wellies, spare coats, groundsheet, shopping bags, other useful and "may come in handy" things. Instruments don't have a chance to slide around! :D

Why didnt I think of that. Its so obvious now you mention it.

The solution is so easy: the trunk of our car holds just 3 accordions (without them having room to roll around). So just take 3 accordions and there is no more problem.

The only suggestion I can give that others haven't is drive slower ???

Not always an option... running late sometimes :)

Thanks Paul, Yep - bad news is I could get 6 in mine.. I use it for bulky projects too, so no downsizing for now. And anyway thats only adding to toting to & fro & inconvenience.

Im going to get a few carabiners off ebay and some strapping and develop/fettle an eloquent snappy solution based on what Im doing now .. unless anyone comes up with a better idea. Itll keep the shopping from escaping from bags & rolling around, and keep our Frenchie Peggy* secure, too.
