Bottom of the page.

This came up in another post about supporting accordion weight while sitting.
And it has been mentioned in aches & pains posts a few times but not directly discussed.

Anybody here using/tried one? Any comments/recommendation?

Can it be used sitting?

I have one in my closet.

I tried to use it but it just didn't work out for me.

You can use them sitting, provided you can get the legs of a drum throne and the legs of the stand not to fight. (this was always my problem, I ended up using a folding chair to get around it)

My biggest problem (other than leaving the accordion on it all the time) was that it did not move with me. I found out that I am very animated when I play (probably my back trying to keep moving) and that the stand was to confining.

I can only recommend that you find a dealer with one and try it before you buy. They are rather expensive.

Thanks Ben - you have confirmed my exact fears - maybe different for others of course.

Over the years I've known other musicians that have purchased these accordion stands. Some of them have sold them and the rest have them in storage gathering dust. Eventually they all came to the realisation that the use of a drummers throne set at the proper height to keep the accordion off your legs is the best solution.

Thanks JD

Yep - drum throne definitely the answer. I had a back problems and bought an adjustable drum throne, set it to the correct flight and never looked back!

Ahhh yes ...but the real trick is getting your accordion to sit......

coat...get ...me ...I'll....OR possibly even to shake ....bellows shake ....okay ,okay ...............Sheesh you're a hard audience. :b

LOL
I agree.
roll over and play dead are much easier tricks.
but sit, that is an entirely different trick. :)

Actually I realised that the 'sitting' question was a bit irrelevany as you could sit at a bar stool even if you could't lower the stand far enough for a low stool. Added risk tho'....

Thanks Welsh, very entertaining lady - Ive seen her clips before but it hadnt re-occurred(?) to me she was using a stand.
A BIG vote in its favour, I guess you have to say.

Sings here, too

Edit: Fixed - the other link was to my online banking...

These show her singing, but dont think it the one the link mentioned. Shows clearer picture of the stand and with a guy using it too. Prefer the young lady, she has a much nicer umm personality.

Enjoy, Trev
