Accordion too heavy?

I'm told that these were once very popular in Austria for playing in Alpine chalets. The main player strapped it on, dangled it (the accordion) over the balcony and played the lower notes, whilst another player in the floor below took care of the high notes.

I believe the idea actually originated in Denmark, as I remember reading about it in a book by some unknown accordionist called "H.C. Andersen." It certainly is a bit of an "ugly duckling", and I think I'd rather have the lady than the accordion sitting on my lap.

The PA version reaches two floors down, and they stopped making them after one or two balconies collapsed. I'm a mine of useless information!   :D
