Hi guys & gals

We've recently purchased my mum's old house in Ireland and we've found 1 piano accordion & 1 old melodeon.
They seem pretty old and still make a hell of a racket.
I never played the accordion but my dad used to play in Irish Trad bands in South Wales & I'm sure he used to go to Birmingham to get his accordion looked at or pop in when we were at Fleadhs around the country.
I'll send you some pics , any help or info would be appreciated as neither of us have a clue what we're looking at.

Both instruments are in pretty bad shape, looking just at the outside (there are no pictures of the inside). If you are thinking of selling the accordions you're out of luck: these instruments will need a larger investment in repairs than they are worth after repairs.
If you have just sentimental attachment to them, it may still be difficult to find a repairer willing to take on this job...

Certainly the case with the PA, but the single-row melodeon is a different matter - worth checking at melodeon.net for info.
They are small, quite simple inside and easy to repair, so, I say, if you want to learn yourself on these particular instruments, the melodeon is a keeper, with a reasonably expensive, but not extortionate (depends on your expectations I guess) trip to a local fettler.
There's a lot of rust on it, which can be a showstopper if the reeds are gone, but otherwise it's very restorable.

Hi Liamdebleine!๐Ÿ™‚
Attractive, older, full-sized instrument.๐Ÿ™‚
It appears "Recanata" is a town in Italy with a history of accordion making.
"Marinucci" may have been the name of the group/company that manufactured your accordion sometime in the 1920s to 1930s but nowadays likely defunct.
Here's a picture of a similar model on Pinterest:
