Hi Ffingers, you make a robust point. Sure how much better would the musician sound in a studio setting!
You know, I often look for impressive musicians and worry less about the recording quality. I think there is a certain honesty about this video recording in the Cathedral. Seems to me there are no hiding places here. There is no editing in the sense of cutting and correcting of the music. Some sound engineers often treat a recording like a jigsaw puzzle with multiple recordings fused together. It can be, well, a bit false and does not capture the essence of the musician. To me this lady shines through the recording.
I like mobile phone recordings, I think it is a 'thing' now. A genre ?

Well, I can understand both sides.
In one case, it is infinitely better to have this recording with very poor audio quality than not having anything at all, but the other side of the coin is that with all the different possibilities and ways that we have available to us today, we don't need to accept poor quality audio anymore. People pay thousands of dollars for a cell phone now a days , why not spend $200-$500 for a small portable setup that can give you much improved audio that is near close to being professional quality?
There are a couple reasons, I think.
- they don't care
- they don't know how *really* good it cany sound
- they may care and know, but don't have the budget or knowledge
This is all a hobby for me, and I am a bit of a techno geek. I have been working on it now for several years and feel I want to take my presentations to the next level. I want not just good audio but video of equal quality and presentation.
Call me spoiled... lol
