Interesting idea, a polychord bow for string instruments:

Afther the synthetic bow hair for violins and cellos, Coruss, great to see some innovation again in string instruments luthery:

I wonder if, some day, we could get rid of sticky rosin to get friction between bow hairs and strings ?
Rosin is so messy, lot of cleaning work to do on violins and cellos after every playing session ...

Stephen,

Wot next?

Fantastic! :)

Always something new! I've only  just become accustomed to the "Chapman Stick", now this! :)

The interesting idea is that with the clicking mechanism you can loosen or tighten the hairs of the bow very fast.
Its not perfected yet, there might be room for improvement, but it looks to work for rhythmic fiddle pieces and also for polyphonic slow baroque music.

The baroque violin and cello bows were different in shape as the modern Tourte bows. Also the hairs were not so tight, so bending the hairs over the 4 strings was easier for chords or polyphonic passages.

An older polychord bow (without mechanism) in a J.S. Bach solo violin piece:

Fasten your seat belts for this one. If you cant sleep tonight heres some polyphonic distraction  :)

The most fascinating is, he's trying to play the cello with his feet and toes...
But this is a step too far, impossible to play in tune with this machine.

His violin bow idea was more interesting, I think others will continue to work further on that idea.
