This is the new piece my accordion teacher has set me.
Wish me luck.

Good luck! There's lot's going on there, I like the way that Piazzolla drops the F sharp in the scale at around 0.36".

That's great. You'll need fantastic dynamics control to stay on track with a slow piece that long - lots of held notes with stuff going on underneath. Pretty difficult... good luck! Do you have an arrangement for standard bass piano accordion?

I have a Stradella bass and it doesn't follow entirely the version in the video but there are so many versions of it on-line, often with two instruments, that it leaves lots if room for interpretation.

Playing Ave Maria Piazzolla on stradella bass would be like drinking beer from a plastic bottle or glass...
This is music to be played on the free bass accordion, to respect the music of Piazzolla and the bandoneon.

Here is the Piazzola version from his YouTube page, which is identical to being sold under his name on Amazon.

Stephen,

I do not intend to play it um-pa-pa style whilst wearing Lederhosen.
Although the idea does have some merits.
I try not to be too "instrumentist" and give each one a chance to show what it can do.
Otherwise we should ban Piazzolla from the accordion completely as he composed these pieces for the bandonion which is, you will agree, the devil's instrument par excellence. ;)

Mmmmm.
This is a nice oboe melody line with a very wooden and rather tacky sounding electronic piano player as accompanist (assuming it isnt sequenced).
Its a room 101 job for me Im afraid (apart from the lovely oboe) :(

This is what I dont understand; its on APs YouTube page, and on a Amazon product page, the performance seems clunky to me, and out of character. Whos playing it?

It seems like the piece was written for the Oboe and Piano anyway, what you wear is up to you.. :)

Its probably not the real A.Ps page, is it, seeing as hes been dead for over 20 years? Im with Glenn for 101ing this version. Theres nothing Piazzollaish about it.

The YouTube page might be run by his estate, and Ave Maria is track 5 on this album. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001FUISR6/ref=dm_ws_sp_ps_dp

It could be a demo, or work in progress?..

Just to come back on this one................

Ive found a Youtube performance that is written for Stradella bass and is the one I am working on.
