Tried to work this out from a film theme but the recording was flat. If I can ever get the music score I reckon Ill do the whole tune. Heres the intro and the next time I promise to put on a whole song. Ill need to work out how to edit the racket of bum notes before I actually start playing and get my big mouth away from the mic.

Glad you've gotten round to posting....now that's a interesting piece...i'd like to hear more in this vein....sounds like a Nino Rota theme...lot of dark moody movement in a mere thirty seconds...I do like the atmospherics of soundtracks...good choice..
Also your Reine de Musette prompts me to practice stacatto repeated notes...never managed that skill...

Thanks Terry,

It's the soundtrack to "Midnight in Paris", played (and I believe composed by) Francois Parisi. I was messing around wondering whether I could just record straight off my laptop and ended up with a lot of MP4 files with a lot of junk on them. I'm famous for playing "bits" of stuff then going onto something else. I used to play in a fairly old fashioned style with three voice musette, but after my hand injury 20 years ago I had to ease up on all the percussive button rattling, and lighten the touch, otherwise my hand can seize up in the middle of a tune, which happened here once or twice. If I can ever get back to the way I was before the accident I'll try and put some full length tunes on. This was just a test to see what it sounded like on here. Too close to the mike is one thing, and I'll need to brush that playing up a bit. I think playing with backing tracks would help, but I'm not familiar with how to do that. I'd learn to do it if I get the playing back to a reasonable level.

Thanks for the kind words of encouragement. I'm not ready for You Tube yet, although I would have been happy to post mp4s if the site allowed it.

Just checked Parisi's original...superb tone and haunting melody
Is this the same François Parasi as the guy playing Girl from Ipanema on another vid you posted a while back
Blimey....both of you are climbing up my list of favourites ;)

Same guy Terry. He was born in Valenciennes in 1961, but his family are Sicilian, and he regularly goes and plays there. He is able to play many different styles and has been a teacher for many years. He tends to only play on Crosio accordions, and the one he plays Ipanema on is a little Italian spec 80 bass Crosio, that looks as though it is only 2 voice, with register switches on the front. I have two cats the same colour as his but that's where the similarity ends I'm afraid. On the You Tube track with the still photo of the balcony table and wine glasses with Eiffel Tower in the background is way flat and I couldn't follow it. The chord progression isn't that straightforward (for me),and I'd need to get the sheet music for it. I've tried, but no joy. I'd love to be able to play that one right through.

Tried more experiments with my laptop, but the further I get away from the mike the sound quality goes. If I never had the habit of making strange noises from my throat when playing I'd get away with it. Maybe I should have become a ventriloquist! Ipanema is another favourite of mine, but there is a part where you need to get 4 chords in a chromatic progression (sorry can't do music speak), and up until now I've not bothered to work it out. Some day I'll get the guitar out and work it out from there, but I doubt whether I'd ever manage the basses. You can "cheat" a bit with the 7dim row (I have that on all my boxes except one), but I am a confirmed "oompah" merchant. I can hit jazz type chords on the bass side but I have no real idea what I'm doing.

Ha...check my mouth when i play, i get so tense when i hit record my mouth does the 'gottle a geer' motion but thankfully mute..
So Parisi is only 3 years older than me...i've no chance catching up....though another 20years hard practice and i may get a smidge of his style...
I'll find a sheet from somewhere and get it to you...hopefully
My first chromatic box was a Crosio...beautiful...weighed a ton...churchy sound though...sold on as all white keys and i didn't stand a chance back then...
Ipanema is quite doable...except for the couple of LARGE leaps of faith in the middle 8< otherwise structure not to scary...just holding a bossa rhythm is...
Don't worry about jazz...we all have our own voices...play honestly and most peeps won't tell you to shut up... if it all get's too much my girl will just take the cats for a walk....
I've just been to see La La Land.... Mia and Sebastian's theme is beautiful....next soundtrack i'll be working on for sure....

Not sure if you mean that you'll need to figure it out or whether you don't want to turn it into a public spectacle. A simple upload is relatively straightforward. If the latter, just upload it with the Unlisted option and it won't show up in YouTube's own search results.

Thanks Morne,

Never knew that. Better get a haircut and go on a diet!

International stardom is getting closer all the time, although I am about as photogenic as a rotten tomato. No, I'm doing the rotten tomato an injustice there!

My wife will have a laugh, as the word "tube" in some parts of Scotland is an insult, translating to something like "idiot". It is usually directed by one male person to another, e.g. "What have you cocked up this time, ya (you) tube?"
