Today in the middle of a gig, the bass strap became disconnected from my FR8X. As I was trying to screw the top end back into the accordion cabinet, the complete strap, top and bottom came away from the accordion. Is this something I can rectify myself or to I have to take to a repairman

It all depends on your diy skills and the actual damage.🤔
Some members have had similar issues which they resolved themselves 🙂
How about some photos?
A picture is worth a thousand words!🙂

If you have good DIY skills its no big problem. If you are the kind of person that plays but is not mechanically inclined, it is easy to damage the polycarbonate case holes as you remove and replace them.

The hard part is being honest about your own personal skills.

FWIW: The 1X failure was well-documented, seems resolved and not the same as this query?
The 1X failed at the internal mounting - it broke!
Can't help with the bottom end.

Bass strap problem sorted. As suggested, it was a minor DIY job. Because I may have loosened the adjustment 'wheel' too much over time, the strap popped off under pressure. The
lower end of the strap came adrift from an internal bracket. It was just a matter of reassembling everything.
