Interesting article, thanks Stephen. I guess free bass is crucial as he says, extremely difficult for an instrument with pre-set chords to succeed in classical music.

Ksenija Sidorova is doing her bit. Video interview here. PA rather than CBA.

Paul Chamberlain describes the accordion as a small portable organ and mentions Baroque repertoire. It would be interesting to hear an accordion playing continuo instead of a chamber organ.

Mie Miki is one of the older ones who conquered concert halls and still way older is Harry Mooten who recorded many preludes and fugues by Bach. And Richard Galliano wrote pieces for accordion and orchestra... there are so many examples already...

Have seen Ksenija Sidorova playing, she has excellent bellows control on the accordion.

two videos of the Dutch Toeac accordion duo, one player changed from PA to CBA after a few years, now they both play CBA.
The person who played PA was an excellent PA player, but it took her not so long to switch to CBA.
Yours truly was one of the bad boys that talked her into CBA... at a music festival some years ago, but I dont think she has any regrets having made the switch to CBA.

Dont know if I could talk Ksenija into CBA ... although Id like to give it a try
tempting...
