Hello, everybody! I'm new here, looking for an advice. I have a Orla XM800 orchestra module. Use to connect Roland Juno-DS to it and it worked perfectly. Now when I'm connecting to it MIDI keyboard, or Roland E-09 keyboard, I can play only chords, right side not producing any sound. If anybody knows how to change MIDI setting on Orla, please be so kind to explain it to me, I have a manual for a Orla but cant figure out right setting. Thanks in advance.

Looks like you are using the wrong channels. I don't know what the Roland E-09 is and I do not own an Orla, but the basics are the same... knowing your equipment is key:

Hi Jerry, Thanks so much for taking the time and trouble to explain clearly the midi set up. For some folks just setting out for the first time to use an Expander / module etc with their midi type accordion it can be very confusing . As always you have done a great Job .
Also the tip on playing the bass/chord buttons ............I've seen several players who keep on playing the bass and chord in Ompha style but as you advise just trigger the chord and leave it alone until next chord change .....and your timing to trigger the chord changes should be very precise ...otherwise accomps will sound jerky !! it takes a little time to get used to playing this way...but the results are well worth it to get the best from the module/expander and midi accordion . Once again thanks for the Video and sharing your Experience and Knowledge

Hi, Jerry! Thank for Your help, and you are right: "...knowing your equipment is key", but sometimes manuals not very clear about some specific settings. Roland E-09 is keyboard arranger with speakers and auto accompaniment, as I mentioned before, I had to use Orla with Roland June DS-61 and just splitting keyboard on two voices, upper and lower will work without any settings, you can play chords on left and melody on right, it will trigger all accompaniment and solo functions on Orla, just like MIDI keyboard. The problem was on both setting, I tried to change MIDI channels on Orla and did it wrong, also E-09 has it own MIDI settings. Most confusing part, on Orla it can be set: Piano, Fisa, Master, Split, Full keyboard. On Roland Arranger,Piano, Split. I got the right setting know, everything works fine, but still, not clearly understand how it works. Would be easier to use simple MIDI keyboard, but it is nice to have OrlaXM-800 like expantion, adding different sounding styles and voices to Roland E-09, which has 560 voices and 130 styles of its own. Thanks again. have a good day.
