Could anybody please help me
I have acquired my late grandfather‘s accordion my sister has had it for years and given it to me I would like to know more about it all I know it is a Hohner I would just like to know what model and how old it actually is if anybody knows
Fond memories of listening to him play it
Any help much appreciated

Looks like a model HA-114 as seen here.

I have no idea of age but I believe Hohner still produces this model. Maybe someone here knows when they started production of the model or what details can be used to date them.

This forum is pretty chromatic-centric though there are some members that know about diatonic instruments (yours is a diatonic). I believe there is a Melodien forum that may have a wider information base for that kind of instrument.

HA-114 indeed, and the pattern on the bellows tape indicates it was made sometime between the late '60s and mid-'80s.

It would be worth unscrewing and straightening out the bent grill so that the pallets don't hit it when you play.

Edit: I notice you're in Canada, so I'm wondering if you're in Québec. If your grandfather played Québécois music it is very likely in the key of D. I play and teach this music on this instrument, and would be happy to help you get started (by Zoom, etc) if you're interested.
