I have a deeply held dislike - 'rimshots', which spoil otherwise excellent music.

Over enthusiastic use of the 'American drumkit' is an abomination inflicted across a whole range of popular music, including by Gene Kruper who was inclined to wander off the tempo and rhythm on many of the recordings that I've listened to.
