Ok, I know the following is not a professional procedure. Probably some of you know or have heard of it. When I was younger, in my country, we used to tune accordion reeds like this: after reed was cleaned and rust free, we added or "painted' a short strip of nail polish (or even better white correction fluid) on the tip or on the base of the reed, then we tested, and if we had applied too much, we just needed to scratch some of it until the tuning was correct. of course, this method would not last as long as a professional tuning, but it could be repeated as needed without altering the reed metal. Hope someone could find this hack useful!

It's definitely a possibility, but it's best to use something that sticks really really well. For very low bass reeds with copper weights a bit of (electrician's) solder could be added to lower the pitch. Note that the copper is also just "glued" to the steel reed, so there are glues that must be good enough to last a lifetime. With enough flux adding a bit of solder to the steel reeds could also work and last a very long time.
