I’ve been taken lately by the “xote” rhythm of Falamansa. I think if I ever get into singing this could be an interesting backup style to pursue, who knows? Interesting sound to the old Scandelli too, what do you make of it? Edited: Oh, I posted this same song in February. So enjoy it or sue me, whatever.

Yeah, I agree. Conventional wisdom is that the “xote” derived from the schottishe, and you can see how this could be. But there definitely seems to be a reggae type influence in the music of Falamansa. As we used to say back in the day, “Only their hairdresser knows for sure.” Maybe a Brazilian on here can verify……
