Hello,

The teacher of my daughter (8 years old) is sick and unreachable. She wants to learn, and I would like to help her. But I’m not a teacher and I don’t know how to play accordion (CBA)… Could you please help us by answering to 3 “easy” questions, about fingerings (1=thumb, 2=forefinger, 3=middle finger, 4=ring finger, 5=little finger)?

The music to play is the following:

I think the fingering for the 1st system is:
Right hand:        4 – 3 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 3 – 2 – 3
Left hand :          4 – 3 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 3 – 2 – 3
1) Is it right ?

I think the fingering for the 2nd system is:
Right hand:        4 – 5 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 – 2 – 3
Left hand :          4 – 3 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 3 – 2 – 3
2) Is it right ?

For the 3rd system, the fingering for the right hand is clearly indicated.
3) Could you help us for the fingering of the left hand ? Beginning by 2 – 3 … ?

EDIT 02/23 :
The following solution is a good one for the fingering (1=thumb, 2=forefinger, 3=middle finger, 4=ring finger, 5=little finger) :
2 - 3 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 3 - 4 - 2

Thanks!

I don't play CBA, but I suspect you are correct for #1 and #2. At this stage, it's fairly standard that, if a finger number is not given, you would use whatever finger you used the last time you played the same note. That is, if the finger to use is obvious, based on what has already been notated, it's common to omit the number.

For #3, well, first of all, are you sure this is a piece for right and left hand, and not a duet for two right hands? Something that the teacher might play with the student? I'm basing this on the fact that the bottom staff is also in treble clef.

I agree with Jeff, I think this a duet in two treble parts, with fingerings for right hands on two instruments.

Thanks Jeff & Tom.

I really think that it's not a duet but a piece for right and left hand. I say that because the lesson before was based in the same way (bottom staff also in treble clef). But I admit willingly that it's not a common way to describe a piece for right and left hand (for the left hand, we often see a key of F - Fa in french- instead a key of G - Sol in french)…

But one other question: why left or right hand is important ? I mean the fingering should be the same as the left & right keybord are the same ( chromatic bass line) ?

I've seen some student pieces for chromatic free bass written out this way.
Could it be the case, or do we neccesarily know it's stradella? (I couldn't see indications in the post)

For the A on treble side last row instead of 1 I would use 4 and continue to fold over 3 / 4 or visa versa til the end.
Godgie
Hope of help.

Thanks to all !

The following solution is a good one for the fingering (1=thumb, 2=forefinger, 3=middle finger, 4=ring finger, 5=little finger) : 2 - 3 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 3 - 4 - 2
