Roland |FR3X arrived this morning, on time, and as planned. Great service from David Wood at Promenade Music. And I have a new family member! It's going to take a little getting used to, especially the bellows operation which I find a bit heavy, but there's a local session tonight and I'll give it a try out there. Plenty of volume from the internal speakers, nice set of sounds. Keys are a little narrower than I'm used to, but that's only a matter of practice and getting used to them.

What is really good is that I can take it to Bangkok without worrying about the heat and humidity buttering up the reeds and the tuning.

Yay!

see:
Manual page 48: Bellows Curve and how to change it:
X Light, Light
“Light” means that you do not need to push/pull hard
to achieve a meaningful effect. The “X-Light” requires
even less strength (the “X” stands for “extra”).

Congratulations on your new family member.
Do you have a name already? :)

With regards to heavy bellows I think the advice to experiment with the bellows curve is the way to go.

Thanks for tip. Will have a look at this. There's a lot to take in as it's rather more complicated than a traditional pushmepullyou.

Took it to one of our local sessions last night - The Queen Vic at Priddy, Somerset. A mix of traditional English and quirky folk (music, as well people) and got a few brownie points, with a couple of the trad guys tutting into their beards. But it performed well. Some nice sounds, though not sure yet that the 'out of the box' sounds are quite what I want.

Next experiment: recording a Bodhran drum track to stick into the USB stick.

Ho Hummm So far so good.

Con-Grats. The 3x is my acoustic jam box for sure. Eazy to play with out sticking out. You would never think that the electronic box would be excepted in an acoustic jam. But from the several jams I go to they all seem to like it the best.

PS. You'll get used to the bellow action.
