Grille Cloth

I want to change over the silver grille cloth on my black Artista, to gold cloth. I have the cloth, a Lame. What adhesive would be appropriate? I was thinking 3M's 77 spray adhesive but would like other options. Any idea of what the factories use?

What I learned was to use white glue. You first cut a sheet of paper in the right shape, and you also cut the grille cloth in the right shape. Then you put white glue all over the paper, press the paper onto the accordion cover to transfer the glue to the cover, then take off the paper and press the grille cloth in.

Hi Paul. That's a great technique, but I do have a question. How did you grow that third hand shown in the second (middle) picture? I think that would be most handy.

I dont know. None of the three hands were mine. My hands were on the camera.

But...I may have misunderstood... does this mean glue is all over the cloth and therefore visible through any slots/holes etc in the grille? Apols if I have misunderstood this.

No you put the glue on the paper first then put the paper on the grill so it leaves the glue where it needs to be. Then you apply the cloth

Indeed, the first picture shows the glue being applied to the paper. That paper is then put on the grill, upside down so the glued side makes contact with the grille cover and (part of) the glue is transferred to that cover. Then you pull off the paper and apply the cloth. You have to be careful to position the cloth correctly because if you have to still move it some of the glue ends up where you can see it. But as it is white glue it can be wiped off with a wet paper towel.
