Hi all,
I'm Charlotte, 42 year old living on my narrowboat around the West Midlands (could change, but I move slowly!).
I am very new to playing accordion, I have some basic music knowledge and can play by ear and read music, but I'm very much a beginner.
I love the sound of the accordion itself, and the styles of music it tends to lend itself to. I particularly love Balkan and Eastern European folk, although to be honest the artists I'm more familiar, such as the Kolpakov family, with tend not to be accordionists - I'm looking forward to discovering artists new to me! That said, I'm open to all music, and I really enjoy a wide variety, ranging from folk from most parts of the world to punk to desert blues to Dvorak and Elgar...will always be open to new suggestions!
I want to learn to play piano accordion well enough to not wreck a casual jam session. After that... we'll see! I currently have an old German, Italian sounding 42 bass piano accordion that my brother gave me for Christmas a couple of years ago. The poor thing has a couple of sticky keys but I do have something to try and work stuff out on for now. Not really in tune enough to play with others, but one thing at a time!
