Hello, where do I get the best sheet music for accordion ( stradella ) ?
Do you live near NOVA? Never been to Deffner's but considering taking a ride there. Wondering what it is like and how his repair capability is.Depending where you live the best source in the U.S. is Ernest Deffner. They have many of the books from the fifties which are not expensive.
You do need to keep in mind that most of the music they send is photocopies of the originals, but as I said their prices are very low and their
catalogue is huge.
Liberty Bellows also has a good page of sheet music and method books. They are in Philadelphia but of course one can order on line.
Sheet music plus again in the U.S. has some books-palmer hughes, etc but I think they've got the smallest collection of sheet music for
the accordion.
And thank-you everyone for the links-there goes my wallet.
Make sure you phone ahead to arrange an appointment before you go. In the past, they did not have established operating hours and were open by appointment only.Do you live near NOVA? Yeah...strange looking. I was not sure I had right place and did not want to go there if it was not. hate driving in NOVA. I have emailed but get no response. Will have to try calling and set something up. Does not look like a store or music teaching place.Yes, Deffner's is run by Frank Busso, Jr. It's in an industrial park off I-395 inside the DC beltway. A small unit in a row of storefronts / industrial outlets.
Yes, if you are persistent you should be able to get a hold of Frank eventually. He is really a wonderful person, but I do think he has his hands full running the Deffner/Busso business, teaching, his involvement in the Washington Metropolitan Accordion Society, as well as being the accordionist for the U.S. Air Force band; so he is quite a busy fellow!Yeah...strange looking.
