Any comments on the above as will be going to see one next week :)

My brother said he has one to show me that look's interesting as he knows a long time ago I was looking for a p/a

Unsure if he is selling it or selling on behalf of a 3rd p or what :?:

He said its german made which may be obvious :)

I am not necessarily interested in aquiring it (unless very affordable ie cheap) just interested, especially interested to see if it offers anything over and above my concerto 72 bass maybe as a 2nd box :!:

Hi Dave I think the 120 is a Bravo III? It may be less obvious than you think because for sure some of the Bravo range is made in China. Id say it all is, except for some reason I seem to remember that there are exceptions - either the earliest ones or maybe the 120. I suspect Adam will have the inside track on this and will be able to comment. Like you say tho - you get to give it a go in a relaxed environement and if you like it - they are quite light- and its cheap..?

I was also under the impression that ALL Bravos were made in China . the prob with Hohner you just never know 100% .

Dave - I`d have thought any 120 bass apart from an old italian ladies model 2 voicer would have exceeded your weight requirements , even a Bravo.

I'm afraid Adam is right on this one - the bravo may have machine made German reeds but it's made in China. Caveat Emptor!!!!! JIM D.

Don't assume it's rubbish just because it's built in China. (Even Apple do it).

I'm very happy with my Bravo III 72.

Chris

If I'm honest there was no mechanical fault in the year or so I had the Bravo 11(48bass), either. Was too light for me, pulled it about to much. There wasn't country of manufacture showing on it and I would have thought that wasn't in line with EU regs?

I went to see the above and I now have it on approval to try out - my brother is selling it.

He said bravo by mistake?

It was originally bought from another local music shop (non accordion) by a guitarist my brother knows.

Its actually an Atlantic IV De Luxe !

Beautiful looking, 3 bass couplers, 11 treble couplers, wrist coupler, no case though

Had quick blast and some of the sounds are refreshingly new and nice including a nice bass sound I have sought after

Loud too

no bellows straps!

There is slidy thing above couplers on treble side but dont know what that is?

One note sounds a little out and there was a strange bellows whooshing sound at times

Only checked it quickly though as was in rush as was late there and he closes half day wednesdays :)

you can see the dilemma looming now :hb  :)

Wow - talk about a step change in size/weight! The slidey thing is a sordina - a kind of mute - it closes a screen of some sort inside the grill to allow less noise out... without thinking about it more, that's as best I can describe it. Can you notice the difference when slid?

The slidy thing seemed to be very slidy but I only noticed it after I put it away as couldnt see it when wrestling with it on

no no difference when slid, i looked behind the grille and there appears to be nothing there to slide - is it possible one of the previous owners removed the sordina :!: :?:

or did they make them with and without :!: :?:

the ones without the sordina didn`t have the slidy thing . to be honest, it`s a waste of time, all it does is muffle the sound a bit , the blind even when open may compromise the sound and may have been removed for that reason

If that was a question Dave, if it is MMM it will have 3 dots in a straight line and 1 under on the master as opposed to in a 1- 2 -1 config for normal Hohner tremelo tuning.

SS - A LMMH Atlantic Is certainly not Dry tuned - the MM part has a very nice hohner tremelo from the factory (unless tuned out later in its life)

Oh and BTW Dave, an Atlanta is either a CBA or a wooden 80s melodeon
