Hohner Compadre 3 botton box.. info

My daughter is looking at buying a Hohner Compadre 3 botton box.

The owner says he is not sure what key it is in.. private sale. sounds strange to me.

Is there anywhere she can look on the box that says what key it is ??

Grab a tuner and check the third note down from the chin end, that will be the Key note of that row e.g. outside row A, middle row D, inner row G. Might be GCF, FBbEb or perhaps a semitone box e.g. BCC#.

Well 3rd button from chin is B push C# Pull so I guess its a BCC# tuning. Would that be right..
Thats not a common tuning other than Great Britian and mostly Scotland from what I have read in the last hour or so.. might be a bit off. wont be the first time. and my kids think I am off lol

Check the middle and inner rows to confirm.
Ive just checked http://forum.melodeon.net/index.php/page,keyboard_3_row.html and there are two BCC# layouts, viz the outer row may be 2nd or 3rd button for the key note.

The BCC# compadre has 'melodeon' (push pull) bass which are very limited in use . The similar trichord has 12 stradella which are much more useful. It may however be possible to graft a 40/48 bass ppiano acc bass end onto the compadre as has been done on some trichords using a home made adaptor plate to accommodate te difference in bellows dimensions

The Hohner Compadre is 4 kg of bisonoric headache

Add 1,5 kg to 2 kg, and you can have a 48 bass or 60 bass unisonoric CBA, so much easier to play
