Yes I remembered a buddy of mine I mentor that mentioned he had a old Hohner that had shift machine rods that leaked.
A phone call to Al and he has posted what they look like. The first pic' with red felt is the interior the 2nd is the grill side.
Just another one of the typical "Rube Goldberg" design's Hohner has used in the past.
In the case of this one leathers will have to be replaced ( much like replacing the leather on an air button.)
