Recently acquired a Hohner Corona II button acc. and was looking for the serial #s I have read that they are on the back . I cannot find any numbers on mine on the back. Would there be any other locations or telltales of the possible year it might have been made. Also looking for any of the straps that would go on it, I have some of it rigged now but it doesn't feel right I did a few internet searches to no avail.
Thanks for any help.

Just checked. Don’t see any numbers on the outside, maybe some inside, I don’t know, not opening it now. I have successfully used “Levis” thin straps, although they come long, you can cut them down if you want.

The serial numbers in the celluloid can be illegible after decades of sometimes being rubbed by the players clothing.
Try a look under the grille cover where the key pallets are.
Hohner will provide information of when the accordion left their factory, who the first owner was and model details (all for a small fee of course).

RM being Reichsmark I suppose!

p.s. thanks for the information - I've had a good luck with a torch and found the serial number :)

Not sure I would do it with all my accordions, but there are a couple that I am willing to try with... that is to send some money to Hohner along with an exact model number and serial number and they send you back a certificate with some history. Since I am intimate with the history of my Morino, I would try that one and if it was accurate, I would love to send in the info for my Gola and perhaps the Imperator.

Wow, what an impressive collection - and it sounds like this is just a part of the whole rig.
Funny enough I know all these instruments as I previously owned them as well.
The Imperator V was my first "full-size" accordion, I played it for about 10 years to trade it in for a Morino VS, introduced 1986.
At that time I preferred that instrument over the Imperator as it had better keyboard and reeds. Responsiveness of the high piccolo reeds was just a different league.
Around that time (mid 80s) I had the pleasure to play on a Gola 414. It was a pretty heavy used instrument played by a professional accordionist (also) in restaurants (remember: at that time indoor smoking was normal 🙈) but I could feel this was something special and virus was set.

I am super happy with my little collection, and my buying days are pretty much over
:)
Same here, except for stuff that comes my way, which it does. Had a fellow musician here yesterday who is looking for a “small button box”. So got my eyes open for a repairable. Probably show up any day now….

It seems the history varies, Hohner told me "Please be informed, between 1930 and 1987 you receive the delivery date and shipping location, after 1987 only production month". My accordion is 1985-1990, so I've a 50/50 chance of it costing me €30 to only get a year of manufacture :(

Hmmm, perhaps a little disappointing for some. I know the date of manufacture of all my Hohner boxes (all are before 1987).
I just found this here on this very board...boxplayer4000 posted this in 2022 for a 1963 Gola 414 model. So it looks like he got the following info:

Change of heart. I think it would be cool to have an official certificate with whatever info. I'll kick off 2024 with certificates for all the Hohner accordions that I have. :D

Of course it's cool to have an official certificate with whatever info, mine all have a Hohner Delivery Certificate but one on which I can't find the serial number, ... gone with some repair I guess ...
