Dear all,

I am a happy owner of a Hohner Student 40. I bought it recently but it is a little bit out of tune, especially the bass.
I took out the reeds racks and there are 3 of them. I will attach pictures.

Could you please help me with a chart for the reeds tuning ? Or if anybody could explain me how should I tune each reed? Which tone should be at each one of them?

Many thanks in advance from my side!

Assuming you have a tuning app you can easily find out which reed is which note by blowing into them. (This is generally bad advice as the moisture of your breath may cause the reeds to rust, but considering how badly rusted these reeds already are it no longer matters.) Put painters tape over the top of the reed block and write down (on the tape) what each note is. Once tuning is complete you remove the tape and leave no mark that you needed this memory aid.
Tuning these reeds is not going to be very easy because the holes in the reed blocks do not allow you to select a single reed. And if you tape over the reeds and valves to shut one reed bank up it changes the tuning of the reeds on the other side of the reed block. This is really a situation where a tuning app that can measure two reeds simultaneously is very useful. I use Dirk's accordion tuner for this, but it costs more than this whole accordion is worth...
