I Give Up .. .

I have three and a half octaves on my right...capable of playing three reeds at a time ...twelve voices if I make a big fat extended chord...I've Cassotto and sordina to mellow and round, I've a full 120 bass on my left....capable of huge eighteen reed voicings that can be played simultaneously with the right ....I've studied voice leading, secondary dominants, contorted harmonies.... I'm possibly overly obsessive trying to create the sweetest and smoothest of tones ..
And then some smooth dude turns up....with ONE open bamboo reed ...capable of playing one note alone.....and in doing so blows all my obsession, efforts and pondering out of the water ...

I surrender... I'm truly humbled ...

It’s not the tone though, Lost. I don’t think the tone of his flute is really anything that special. It’s the rhythm, articulation and emotion that he brings to his music, along with the background story. We’ve seen this before where someone plays with a beat up old accordion and makes a beautiful performance and someone else plays with handmade mano a mano super 6 gola that makes us yawn.

You have your own look and style. We’ve seen it in your videos. Maybe relax a little on the tone and just let your personality reign?
