I have a stuck bit that i think is part of the switches on the front.

you need to be careful.. it already looks like you have
made it worse when you took it out.. there is splintering
on the bottom and looks like some of the gasket material
has been scraped up.. so possible air leakage when you
put it back in

brute force never fixes anything on an accordion

so this is an older type, the sliders that open and close the notes
are built into the reedblock. Swelling of the wood or having been
mounted improperly causes them to "bow" and so a flat slider
can no longer freely slide back and forth.

you should post lots more pictures, or find someone locally
who has a bit of experience give it a look

modern accordions have the sliders built into the plate the reedblocks
mount on

If the registers slider won't budge it is possible that moisture caused the wood to swell, leaving not enough room for the slider to move.
I have not encountered this problem but one thing you could try is to place the reed block in the fridge for some time, and if that's not enough, then in the freezer. The cold causes the aluminium to shrink and that increases the likelihood that it allows the slider to move.
In any case, do not try to free it up using any kind of lubricant other than maybe baby powder (which you have to blow or suck out carefully afterwards).

First find out what is causing it to stick, how far will it move with slight pressure .?
It won't. I was wondering if it had been glued shut but i can't see any sign.

With putting it in the fridge/freezer would that not expand the wood further as moisture freezes?

It looks as though it is in an intermediate position, so there is no reason to glue it there, can you carefully split the reed block to free it ?
