Hi there all,
I have an accordion given to me by a family member, and I was wondering if anyone could help with any kind of identification/information about it? Apologies if that's not allowed here.

There are a couple of Cajun forums that may tell you a bit more about this style of instrument. Also check out the melodeon forum melnet.com as well Many of these instruments were made in Germany before WW2 and as such are worn out. check out Marc Savoy on YT to hear they should be played.

As dunlustin said, hopefully this box has provided merry music in the past. They were played in their thousands in Britain and Ireland.
The usual term in England would be "a one row melodeon."

It's broken, the bellows-closing hook is missing and there's other damage quite apart from the state of internals that make the sound.

Hopefully it has a future in retirement as an ornament, but it'll be far "beyond economical repair" as a musical instrument.
