I need some of you experts to tell me if this is a good accordion in terms of make/model. I understand that Crucianelli was made in Italy only up to about 1971, and instruments before that time were considered good quality.

I am considering buying this on ebay, but how can I know if it is one of the older ones. Does this look like a good deal?

I would ask keyboard length. The seller seems to know accordions but some people think 120 bass = full size.

Crucianelli was a pretty good brand. Sadly the factory burned down in the 70's.
This accordion looks good. A few things inside are clearly different from what's in my own Crucianelli (but it is a different model), but it does look like it is genuine.
The registers seem to indicate an LMMH setup but I am 99% certain that it is actually LMMM. My Crucianelli has the exact same registers but is also LMMM. On the reed blocks I am not seeing any sign that there might be piccolo reeds.

Everything looks good but All eBay transactions are a bit of a gamble. No mention in the description if it’s in tune or if compression is good. Videos are so helpful because you can see how much bellows movement is needed and can hear tuning issues. It’s not as good as trying the instrument yourself but does give you decent insight into condition. If it’s hand made reeds it might be worth the cost if the instrument needs a bit of tune up work.

@debra meaning that it would have a dry sound? Sorry I have not learned about the LMMH and LMMM and what all it means.

Here is what the seller told me in regard to that:

"I do not see a piccolo sound on it and when I play it it’s more of a wet tine than dry but it is Not completely wet but it does have a nice sound to it"

misspellings and all. :-) I have bought from this guy before and seems like a nice fellow.

Hi Ben,

I can't vouch for whether or not this is a "real" Crucianelli. I think if this is a person you have successfully dealt with before, and the price is right, you can't go wrong. I have a "5 paddle" version and I really like it.

The registers suggest the piccolo but the accordion does not have it. It does have MM and also MMM, the latter will have more tremolo than the former.

I have a Super Video (inherited from my sister). It has exactly the same registers and is LMMM. The pictures do show a very nice accordion, also on the inside. The price is right too.

Yes exactly, a full sized accordion has a keyboard which is 19.5 inches long. Some stroller or ladies models are around 17.5 inches. I even was shown a child sized one where the keyboard was around 12 inches so there's no actual standard size. Accordions can be any size in between and some novelty models can even be larger or smaller.

I verified keyboard size before I bought it, and it is full size. Supposed to come tomorrow!

Well, it came, and I am sure tickled with it! I think I struck a jackpot this time. It has a sound that is wet enough to suit me, and it's very pretty. The register switches on the back are different from what I have ever seen. There are only two, but each of them alternates between two different voices every other time you press them. It is pretty neat how they rigged it up on the inside to make it do that.

Nice and clean on the inside, and sounds great. I will take a video later, but here she is! (I do photography too, so that is one of the first things to do - take a good picture. :) )

I believe the salt light is known to have beneficial properties for the health and tone of the accordion. I base that solely on Schultze Gets the Blues.
