Installing backpads

How risky is it to do this on an older accordion? I'd like to install one to protect the new bellows I plan to get, also hide an unsightly scratch that my mirror polish didn't remove. lol

Possibly the least intrusive method would be to attach a bellows pad using Velcro on the rear of the treble box?

Indeed, I have done this successfully on an older accordion. It's non-intrusive and risk-free.

The treble keys are only held on with springs, perhaps I'll remove a few to see how much clearance I have. I'm sure it would also be a good idea to make a template with poster board.
