We're having a little contest, running until the end of March. Please feel free to enter - see the thread in the "I Did That" section of the forum. Don't be shy, have a go!
the dots for this tune or available from ''the session'' on t'internet but bass is not included. Why not try a bit of experimentation to find the chords you like as it would appear that there are no '' correct'' ones, indeed in traditional music there rarely are!
I got the dots off the session this morning whilst looking for the chords. Im hearing a cycle of D major and C major through the verse, then moving to E minor with the odd A major and D thrown in during the chorus. Just wondered if anyone had a definitive chord set, as was in a hurry to learn it for tonights Morris Practice, in case we use it to accompany Tinners Rabbits as per this version:
We already do a dance to Click go the Shears which many other sides use for Tinners Rabbits.
Nice tune - I didn't know it. Must suggest it to the side.
We use 'Uncle Bernard's Polka' for Tinners Rabbit, but unfortunately that doesn't stop me having to play Click Go the Shears - that's another dance again (such a dreary tune).
PS looks like there's one of our guys in the video - the red, yellow & green tatters are definitely a Rooster outfit!
I like Click go the shears too, we play it with the Moulton dance, Magic Roundabout.
The jury, (ie the Squire,) is still out on what to accompany Tinner's Rabbits with. I've heard some interesting options on Youtube in the last couple of days though. I like La Roulante due to the "non-standard" bass and chords, it has a somewhat mischievous air to the verse, at least to my ears.
