Hi, I have been playing the accordion for a few years. I just started playing a few years ago without a teacher.
I bought some books to learn from.

Two of those are from a well experienced and humbled accordion player who has got a fantastic YT channel where he shares his over 500 videos and repertoire.

I only came across his patreon dot com site yesterday (!) where he shares his music notations, music, lessons and tips of the days. Membership is FREE or costs Β£1/$1.5 for basic . Me writing this post isn't an ad BUT a huge shout out

I just wanted to tell beginners and any accordion player how much it is helping me to watch his tips on bellows or memorizing or mastering tunes, but also how much I love his books and/ OR tunes on his patreon dot com community site( links are underneath his YTchannel videos 'accordion lovers'.

I hope it's okay to share his work here. There have been other links of other ppls stuff and here are many ,'self taught' accordionists.

I hope this helps someone as well and you can share your wisdom here from what you learn from Basil/ Leslie.

I would also recommend his beginners book if you like eastern European/ European tunes. Or his world book for international stuff. I love the tunes in there. Also because he gives you the fingering in his books, which is really helpful for memorizing tunes.

Accordion repair: I would also recommend him if you need to have your accordion repaired. A few years back he fixed my stuck D button which hasn't got stuck since. It was easy to organize the repair: I dropped it off at his and he shipped my accordion back via mail. Wasn't expensive. He lives in the south West of England in the pretty town of Totnes.

Also check out his french tunes on YT and patreon. I love them as they sound so typical and old fashioned 😁( because some of them are they!) . To receive his assembled notations you join the patreon community.

His collections, also devided conveniently into stages 1-7, & not just the french ones, are amazing in variety and quantity. He plays them all by memory. Big shout out!!
Over and out. 😁

This is a very good resource! I have subscribed to this channel a while ago. (y)
I like his no-nonsense approach on things like the left-hand choices (I cannot put the link here, just find the video on his channel about "Accordion left hand choices: a guide for beginners").

That video was good. A minor point -- When he was explaining using 4/3 or 3/2, the book he displayed for 4/3 was the Sedlon book. I took and have the Sedlon course of 8 books. Sedlon uses the 3/2 method for Bass/Chord.

Thanks for sharing this. His playlists are neatly put together. His variety of music is vast and very enjoyable to listen to, also because he has access to so many different accordions through his repair services or so I assume πŸ™‚.

Isn't this also 'Squeezy does it' otherwise 'S W Accordions'
A great enthusiast, a fine tech' and source of lovingly restored instruments.
Oh, and lover of E European Music.
Sense of humour:
A beginners' book with a tune in F# minor pentatonic.
It seems silly but is just all the black notes (From memory)
See

Accordion Lovers! I've come across this person's YT recordings many times when searching for tune examples, but I never dug very deep and did not realize he has so many videos. Tunes from many folk traditions, and even the Beatles. Fun to play along. Thanks for pointing out what I was missing.

Thank you for your replies. I just watched this video of him explaining what to look out for when buying a second hand accordion because I was thinking of buying one. Really useful information.

He buys them online and restores them. Love that he brings old accordions back to life.

I like that I learned all those tricky little tunes. I learnt to memorise them without really understanding complex music theory. Just watched the videos that come with the book. The book is out of print now but can be downloaded with the videos via the *patreon site and his very affordable membership site*.

It's a different way of learning watching the tutorials and just copying them especially.

Just became a member today, never expected to see so many references to me and my book. I am truly moved, thank you so much. There are very many more gifted accordionists than myself in the world, all I can offer is a lifetime's music simply played, and a bit of help if you want to learn this most expressive of all keyboard instruments . Merry Xmas!

Ah. got it. It's "accordion lovers"πŸ‘

I've been meaning to subscribe, and did this morning. I'd say my skill level is about mid-way through the course. I'm immediately inspired to have a go at this version of "We Three Kings" in Morris style. Only a week until Epiphany (Three Kings Day) so I'd better get practising!
