Hi everyone,

I am looking for a manufacturer or supplier of German Reed used in harmoniums. I need it in huge bulk quantities, and I’m interested in establishing a long-term business partnership.

We have a great market in India and can do big business together. If you are a direct manufacturer or a large-scale supplier, let’s connect and discuss potential collaboration.

Looking forward to your recommendations and contacts. Thanks in advance!

I'm afraid there are no more German reed manufacturers. There are essentially two options: you can try to set up a business relationship with Harmonikas in the Czech Republic, or you can go with one of the large Italian reed manufacturers like Voci Armoniche, Artigiani Voci, Binci, Cagnoni... There must be reed manufacturers in China and perhaps Russia (though they make mostly bayan reeds) but I have no idea about the quality they can deliver. (What they do deliver in accordions sold in Europe is nothing to write home about.)

Thank you for the detailed information!

I really appreciate the insight. I will definitely look into Harmonikas in the Czech Republic and the Italian manufacturers you mentioned (Voci Armoniche, Artigiani Voci, Binci, Cagnoni).

Since my focus is on harmonium reeds, do you know which of these manufacturers would be the best fit? Also, have you or anyone you know tried Chinese or Russian reeds for harmoniums? I’d love to hear about their quality and reliability.

Looking forward to your thoughts! Thanks again for your help.

best fit ?

there are few Reedmakers left on earth, and they can do pretty much
anything with reeds

i guess the first thing would be, what are the exact specifications
for the reedsets in general and the specific sizes of the reeds
for the dimensions of the Harmoniums you have designed and
commissioned someone in India to build ?

no-one on earth can sell you reeds that will fit or the pitches
necessary until they have your specifications, unless you
are suggesting all Harmoniums are the same and all Harmonium
reeds are the same ?

where do the middle eastern Harmonium builders get reeds ?
or do they make their own ?

When you are establishing a relationship with a reed maker for large purchases they may be able to make the reed plates fit your specifications. And if not, they may well be able to supply you with reed plates that are a bit too large and can be ground down to size.

I have no idea whether the Russians or Chinese (or North Koreans) make any reeds especially for harmoniums and I certainly don't know whether the Chinese can supply you with better reeds than what they put into accordions for export (i.e. better than the rubbish they export).
