During my lunch I stopped at a used Music Store and picked up a Modern branded LMH with a sordino. The grill looks like an EXCELSIOR. It seems really nice and I saw that Modern was a brand associated with Borsini, were all these made by Borsini? After work I’m going to pull the pins and see if I can see what kind of reeds it has.

Yes your MODERN is made by Borsini. And were made for Tony Dannon.
A superior made accordion to compete with models of Excelsior of the same time period.
They also showed up here as "Arch " branded accordions. Not that many made and as a result
are very much sought after.

A video of a top of the line model --------

Thanks Jim. They had three accordions at the shop there and I think they just randomly applied prices to them.

The model in your Pic' should have a market price of $2000 USD in good shape.

Looks like you found a gem, imagine less than the $2000 mentioned. Congrats!😀😀

It is a nice looking accordion for sure. On a side note, I love the woodwork on your window.

They had it marked for $299. They had a very abused Cordovox with the Db dim stuck down and some really sketchy looking repair work for the same price. They had a well worn Lira International LMH for $750. Now sure where they pulled the prices from.

You got that lovely accordion for $299 without having to pull a gun?

Great find Ben, congrats! I think the prices were random. I like Lira but it would have to have been in super shape. Actually I'm not buying any more.... I do admit that in my early, uneducated days I did butcher s Cordovox by removing the electronics. Now I know netter.

I bet they got them all at once and between valuation and making the price tags the modern and Lira had their values swapped.

Maybe the Lira was "prettier" so th3y thought it was more valuable. Was it white and gold?

I like the appearance of the Liras with that cool register cluster. But that one was a black one with kind of dull chrome. I only had like 15 minutes to check out all three accordions but the Lira didn’t quite sound right and for 750$ it was easy to put it down to check out the other two.
