I had assumed Maria Kalaniemi was already well-known in this forum--hey, it's never too late! She taught at the Sibelius Academy for years, perhaps still does. She's done numerous ravishing recordings, solo and in projects with others. She composes fusion-y creations mixing Scandinavian folk, jazz, classical, and more.
These were the first recordings I acquired and are still favorites, but she has done many more. A goddess.
