I recently purchased A QSC Touchmix 8 mixer. Tried out the multitrack Built in recorder on this unit. It successfully recorded each channel, Channel 1 - Vocals, Channel 2 - Accordion, Channel 3 - BK-7m.
It saved it to USB thumb drive. I brought the drive home and imported the file in my DAW. Great results seeing the channels as pictured. Thinking of video recording live and sync this to camera audio mixed down?

Using the audio from a video camera is a bad idea. So if you were suggesting that, just dont even try. Always run a proper audio recorder for the audio and then a video recorder for the images only.
And one more thing: do not expect the audio and video to stay synchronized when you have a long recording. We did a concert recording with an audio and a video recorder and when the start of the recording was perfectly synchronized it was visibly off after half an hour of recording.

Touch mix is a proper audio recorder. But instead just stereo, will have multitrack as shown. To sync it to the video audio, then delete it, is another challenge. I would probably still plug in the camera audio input from Touchmix instead of relying on camera mics while recording live. That is interest how the sync got off on your live recording.? Another thing, on Touchmix, Have option to record pre or post effects, EQ. Probably better pre then add on DAW?

Don't know if it helps but Apple's iMovie video editor makes dealing with video and separately recorded audio, which is slightly out of sync, as well as video from more than one source easy to deal with.

This is an interesting mixer...I like the fact it EQ and effects on each channel. A good thing for accordion players playing into external speakers. Yes, the recording feature is multitrack over just a stereo audio. Checkout this link...

Cool mixer, I've played over it a couple of times now. Bit fiddly at first but sound is good. I wasn't the one who was operating it tho.

I suggest you use a proper XY mic close to your camera into a stereo channel. Mix a small amount of that in with your 3 main inputs and you have a great recording. The camera mic will add nothing extra so just ignore it.

I would record as clean as possible 24b/48k and add fx later.

Sorry that I am late to the show, so to speak... lol

One way to do this is that you could mix down the songs to a single stereo track and sync it to the video all manually... the issue comes when trying to get a good sync.  Because the camera is likely going to be at the back of the room and the sound coming all that way to the camera mics, it is not going to be a good sync.

Here is a secret... if you could get a line output from the mixer to your camera, they would be perfectly synced, and then it becomes an easy task to manually sync the camera audio to your mixed down and mastered audio.

If the camera is locked down to one position, it makes pulling the cable from the front to the rear (some venues even have that in place and ready for you!).

Of course, you could try to do it manually, but that could be a bit fiddly and if the two audio are not recorded at the same quality rates, you might get audio drift.

It comes down to how picky you are.

Hey Larry, I just picked up a Touchmix 8 a few days ago... couldn't pass up the deal. I really was looking for the 16 channel version but for 50% off of a basically new 8 channel unit (1 week old, used about 4 times, plastic wasn't even removed from the screen), it was too good to miss, and so I picked it up.

I've basically hooked a few things up to it, but not run it through the Bose speakers setup yet, just set up a basic scene for the BK-7m, FR-8X and listened through the headphones. I am quite impressed with it, especially after the upgrade to the latest firmware, with all the features it has integrated. It even hooks up to my home LAN and I can control it wirelessly from my old iPad2.

There is a lot there in a small package!

I will be doing a few more tests to see how well the overall system sounds over the coming few weeks, but the idea of being able to capture live performances and use a better quality audio than from a camera is nice (though I will continue to use the Zoom F4's much higher quality recording abilities for videos shot at home). I'll be picking up a 250gb external SSD drive in the future to play with that... quite the interesting toy!
