We're having a little contest, running until the end of March. Please feel free to enter - see the thread in the "I Did That" section of the forum. Don't be shy, have a go!
Last night a family came to see me perform. One of the elders was deaf and was able to communicate with an app on a phone that displayed lyrics or a nearby conversation. There was always a smile on his face when I was playing a favorite song. .
i rolled around a separate 15" JBL cabinet i built for my rig for decades,
and i could sit deaf kids on top of it so they could really feel the beat
from my MIDI bass
the days i worked in the Mall Piano/organ store at Springfield Mall,
had a nice young lady who would come by with her sister helping her,
she had from birth that condition where only one half of her body
was actually alive/useful.. i dunno what you call that, but i got her
to sit on my right at the organ i was front-pumping, and i would
run the auto-accompaniment while she picked out the melody
with her (good side) right hand.. became a regular thing..
handicaps or conditions can be worked around and the joy of
music shared and yes, smiles all around
it's more than that.. half the body has a pallor and is emaciated,
the flesh and muscle seem to be an inch away from rotting
but somehow if kept clean massaged ointments and such
it hangs in there
she had to wear these long boots and special clothes too, her
crutch was actually under her right arm and the right side
of her body had to be the muscle for everything
her face was unaffected, her brain was superb..
it is a terminal condition but she lasted quite a
long time and lived into her 30's and even had
a successful career of sorts
