Hello,

Out traveling and have been looking for a decent accordion for about two weeks because I didn’t want to bring my 120 bass onto the plane.

got lucky today and bought a small 25/12 accordion from someone at a great price. It plays beautifully, great mauve color, keys are a bit clacky but it’s loud for its size.

I have a feeling it was played enough to warrant new straps and seems well maintained.

Metal clasps, the box it came in is unmarked and unadorned as well. The seller said it was her mom’s from 50 years ago but it seems in better shape than you’d expect to be that old.

Probably just a regular old student accordion eh

I remember hearing that these were often kept at accordion stores and especially schools as loaners... let a kid learn to play one of these for a few months. If they're not interested, no harm done, take the accordion back. If they ARE interested, also take the accordion back, and have them get a more capable model of their own.

But they are light as heck, and handy for travel if you don't need actual accompaniment. Most of these I've seen are MM, but I did come across an LM model once. I still own one of these: the first accordion I ever owned. It's currently on loan to someone who's curious about accordions.

There was a program that started in the DC area that matched up kids and accordion teachers. Dale Wise, who I'm not sure is still active in teaching, performing, and repairs seemed to have used this very accordion at least up to a couple years ago

I think Dale is still in business. His web page is still active. About 15 years ago I gave him a couple small accordions for his loaner program that needed some work on them. I saw them a couple years later on his shelf and they looked like new.
