Hi, as I`m on and off mooching around online and looking etc Accordion wise, my google search picked up the new Monzani range offered by DV247 Music Store.

Thats a link to the Accordions page, you can folllow along to the Monzani Range after the two cheap Hohners.

A 48, 72 and a 96 with 3 bass option as well.

I know the Monzani Range name has been used before, but looking at these I think they are related to the Thoman Startone Factory made Accordions. Seem to be the same build etc as our Startone 72. Pretty sure they are.

The Website build is also very very similar to Thomans !

Now I know some people stand back in shock at Chinese made Accordions, but we have seen a few now since we got the Startone, and I do have the say its build qaulity, and reliability, have been absolutely great compared to other similar made Accordions.

The only downside being the reeds, as a little slow to get going, or react. Sound wise OK overall, but not spectacular.

I love its sound myself though. Hands up as I am no music person at all. I Just enjoy listening.

These look to have Italian, or a close approximation of Italian reeds fitted, and with a " 3 " year gaurantee £530 odd for a 48, £620 odd for a 72 and £710 ish for a 96 with the bass 3 couplers too, they have got to be worth a nibble.

Thats delivered prices too.

Anyway I think these will fly out myself.

Going by how good the Startone is, all but reeds wise, these seem a very good value step up from that too.

Enjoy looking etc.

I don`t think these are the same.

Also the Startone quality is quite surprising and it looks as if these are the same, only improved.

I see there is one review so far.

Hopefully someone here will try or know someone who has or will tried/try them.

If they are as good as they look and seem for the cash and the gurantee, they should be a winner.

i'm sorry, but unless it states in their documentation that these are italian fitted reeds
it is dangerous of you to speculate that that is so when they
actually only say "italian reedplates" which could mean just the duraluminum itself

what happens is someone else, a few months from now, asks a friend
"hey, do you know anything about Monzani accordions ? and they say
"oh year.. they have italian reeds"
not realizing that this is just a rumor started by perhaps wishful thinking

as well as the "look the same" except have you have ever set actual eyes on
either of these accordions ? or heard them in person, not over a tiny speaker
from internet audio ?

it is extremely dangerous to have dis-information on the Internet
without legitimate research beyond looking at webpages written
by salesmen who are invested in the embellished and stretching of info as
much as they can possibly get away with doing

sorry.. but we need to be a bit more careful in my opinion

I must add something that has been told to me by experts with no axe to grind. Sometimes an accorion built in China will sound good and play well for a time, but when it needs service, many repair people will not attempt it. Why? Because there was a time when Chinese-built accordions were constructed with methods and materials that differed from those made in Europe. This is less true today, since some Chinese companies have hired advisors from Italy to supervise their construction of accordions, but the damage has been done.

I think the more value, but quite good accordions availabe the better, especially if you want to dip your toe in or a young person fancies a go.

I said an " approximation " of Italian reeds myself.

This is not a range of £3.5K plus accordions.

But it does look as if what you get for the cash is getting better.

For those sort of prices with a 3 year guarantee its a perfect starter accordion or a practice one.

As I say we found the startone ones to be very good for the cash, reeds apart maybe, but still sounds very nice.

The Startone 72 bass was kindly bought for us, but buying it, delivered, and its guarantee worked out at less than £3 a week over the 3 years.

People can read what it says on the website for these and speak to them. Some may choose to buy/try one.

They also do a 30 day full refund policy if not happy too.

You can`t do much better.

I have no connection with the seller, I just thought they look quite good for the cost and back up.

Its no big panic, just interesting, and will be more so once a few are tried out.

I bought a £130 delivered Hanpin Chinese made direct drive Turntable 6 years ago.

Its not a Technic`s, but its absolutely superb for the cash, though a bit more now.

I think moving affordable Accordions further along at a decent price point, much like the Black Diamond people and others have, is a good thing.

NOT knocking Chinese boxes, but I did some research on the website and discovered a mixed bag of reviews and comment. Negatives seem to outweigh the positives.
