Reading the thread headline, I actually though some nutjob has added strings to an accordion box.
And, perhaps, threw in a soundpost somewhere into the box.

I've always wondered about adding sympathetic strings to an accordion as an experiment. I don't think it would be that hard and I reckon the effects would be quite interesting, but you'd have to be prepared to drill holes into it!
To be fair, I've got a "Bowed double bass" orchestral sound on my Roland and it works OK.
The only downside is that left keyboard gets very sticky with rosin.
