"slightly out of tune" is typically a severe understatements for the real condition an accordion is in...
By the time the average player notices that the bass is out of tune is is often seriously out of tune.
What can make this an expensive fix is the source of the problem. When it's just a matter of reeds that have gone out of tune it's not all that expensive, but it's likely that reeds play out of tune because of problems with the leather valves. That makes it more of a repair than a tuning job.

By all means inspect the leathers. Also place close attention to the reed wax holding the reeds. And another problem is a loose reed block leaking air.

Thank you guys! I will hopefully try to do that over the weekend. The accordion is in A-1 shape cosmetically, but of course being an older instrument, things dry out, crack etc. In fact the bass strap still has the plastic on it! The accordion is in like new condition cosmetically.
Hi Dan;
It looks like I forgot another situation that can cause the reeds to sound out of tune.
When you pull the pins from the bass machine also remove the reed blocks - press the bass switches and observe if the slides
completely open & close. A leak from a slide not completely closed or completely open will produce an out of tune situation.
